Families are welcome to continue enjoying Olivet School’s playground after school. These two Kindergarten students worked together to make a snowman!

In today’s world, we might seem more connected than ever through technology—text messages, social media, and endless notifications. Yet, despite all of this, many families still find themselves longing for something deeper: real, meaningful human connection.

At Olivet, we foster that connection.

From the moment you step onto our campus, it becomes clear that Olivet is not just a place where children come to learn—it’s a place where relationships are built and nurtured. It’s a community where families are known, welcomed, and encouraged to belong.

One of the simplest yet most meaningful ways this is lived out is in how we approach the end of the school day. When the clock strikes 3:00 p.m., most schools take the approach of getting students out the door, into cars/buses, and off the property as quickly as possible. Instead, we invite you to stay. Our playground becomes a space not just for children to burn off energy, but for parents and caregivers to connect. Conversations begin, friendships grow, and over time, a strong sense of community naturally forms.

A place where families come together and simply enjoy being with one another. Parents are able to find connection with each other, all while keeping a watchful eye as children play and form friendships of their own. It’s the kind of environment where parents can join in a game of tag or help children perfect their baseball swing or soccer skills, not just with their own children, but with all the children in the community. It brings to mind a time when we were less connected to our devices and more deeply connected to each other.

It’s not uncommon to hear stories of students who, years after graduating, remain close with their classmates. Even more special is seeing parents and grandparents continue to meet for coffee, attend events together, and support one another long after their children have moved on.

This sense of belonging doesn’t happen by accident—it’s something we intentionally foster.

Our Church Society Coordinator plays a key role in creating opportunities for connection by organizing events that bring together families of all ages. These gatherings are designed to be welcoming, relaxed, and full of joy. This year alone, our community has come together for the Fall Wreath Craft Social, a paint night, a lively Hot and Spicy Party, and a Sunday School Christmas Party.

In addition to these, the school itself hosts a variety of family-centered events through-out the year that have quickly become cherished events. From our first-day-of-school BBQ to the pumpkin carving party, from marching together in the Lake Shore Santa Claus Parade to enjoying the energy of the Mystic Drums show, and sharing a meal at our Pancake Breakfast—each event is another opportunity to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories.

At the heart of all of this is a simple hope: that every family who walks through our doors finds their place here.

We want Olivet to be a space where you feel seen, welcomed, and valued—a place where your children grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally, surrounded by a supportive and caring community.

Because at Olivet, you’re not just joining a school. You’re finding your village.
